Not sure what needs filing?

Start with a $125 Tax Catch-Up & IRS Transcript Review.

The review can include available IRS transcripts and client-provided records to help identify:

  • Which tax years appear to need filing or further review
  • Important income or filing information shown on available transcripts
  • Documents or records that may still be needed
  • Major issues that should be addressed before preparation begins
  • A written next-step plan and separate preparation quote

Already know which returns need to be prepared?

ServiceQuotedby scope

You can skip the diagnostic review and request full prior-year preparation when the missing years and records are already reasonably clear.

  • Federal individual returns
  • Required state and applicable city returns
  • Self-employed reporting when records support it
  • Year-by-year filing instructions and results explanation
Request prior-year preparation

Important: The $125 review is a diagnostic service, not tax-return preparation, filing, IRS representation, bookkeeping reconstruction, payment-plan setup, or detailed brokerage basis reconstruction. Payment is due before the review begins. If qualifying preparation identified through the review is started with Allegiant within 30 days of the written review, the $125 may be credited toward that work.

Get the missing years identified

A complete filing picture—not a rushed guess.

Prior-year preparation starts with identifying every return that may be missing and separating what is available from what still needs to be gathered.

Individual & family returns

Prepare missing personal returns involving wages, dependents, retirement income, education, or other common tax documents.

  • Federal and state returns
  • Applicable Michigan city returns
  • Credits reviewed by year

Multi-year filing packages

Organize several missing years into one defined project while keeping the documents, returns, and filing method clear for each year.

  • Year-by-year document lists
  • Consistent dependent and carryover review
  • Combined scope confirmed first

A manageable catch-up process

Work through the backlog one year at a time.

You do not need to solve every missing detail before reaching out. Start with the years you believe are unfiled, the records you have, and any agency notices you received.

List the years

Identify every federal, state, and city return you believe may still need to be filed.

Gather what exists

Organize available W-2s, 1099s, prior returns, business records, and complete notices.

Confirm the scope

Kyle identifies missing information and confirms the years, price, and responsibilities before preparation begins.

Prepare and file

Each completed return is reviewed with you and filed electronically or on paper as the year and agency allow.

Clear service boundaries

Return preparation first. Other issues scoped separately.

Prior-year filing questions

Know what to expect before you start.

Have a different question? Text (616) 541‑5158 or email anytime.

Can Allegiant prepare more than one missing tax year?

Yes. List every year you believe is unfiled. Each federal, state, and applicable city return is reviewed based on the records and filing requirements for that year, and the total scope and price are confirmed before preparation moves forward.

What if I am missing W-2s or 1099s?

Start with the records you have. Employer or payer copies and IRS wage and income transcripts may help identify reported forms, but transcripts may not include every record needed for an accurate return, especially deductible business expenses or state and city information.

Can an older return be filed electronically?

Electronic filing availability depends on the tax year, return type, software, and agency. Some prior-year returns can be e-filed while older or unsupported returns may need to be printed, signed, and mailed. The filing method is confirmed for each return.

Do I have to pay the entire balance before filing?

Filing and paying are separate obligations. Allegiant explains the return result and filing steps, but clients remain responsible for making payments or establishing any agency payment arrangement unless a separate written agreement says otherwise.

Does prior-year preparation include tax representation?

No. This service covers preparation of the agreed missing returns. Tax-notice review, amended returns, evidence packets, collection matters, and representation are separate services and are included only when specifically available and confirmed in writing.
